"Major" Promotion!

Today was a big day for the O's. Scott pinned on his new rank of Major this afternoon. The ceremony was held in the clinic of the Med Group. It was standing room only with many of Scott's friends and co-workers in attendance. I am so proud of Scott! Of course I did get a little emotional throughout the ceremony but I was able to keep those tears from falling. Today brought back memories of his commissioning into the Air Force almost 5 years ago. As a family we have seen and done so many things in those short 5 years. How lucky we are!

Here we are taking off the Captain rank....

Job Well Done Scott!!! Congratulations to you on your promotion!

Space Derby and so much more this weekend!

This weekend was a busy one, especially for Drew and Scott. Friday night Nate and I watched as Drew and Scott carefully worked on their Father/Son Cub Scout Cake Bake. Weeks ago they planned the design of the cake: a scuba diving air tank. As you can see, they did a great job putting together and frosting the cake! Do you see the chocolate covered marshmallow at the top of the cake? That was the open/close valve for the air tank. Tonight they were discussing what they want to do for next year's cake.

Here is Drew with his rocket that he and Scott made for the Cub Scout Space Derby that was held on Saturday, along with the Father/Son Cake Bake. Drew was very excited that his rocket came in first place in his heat. Did you notice the rocket neckerchief slide that the Bear den made at last week's meeting? I think it looks really nice!

Sunday was a wonderful day. Our church held it's Sunday morning mass at Tarague Beach. It was so clear that we could see the neighboring island of Rota off in the distance. The pig roast was delicious, along with all the yummy side dishes and desserts that everyone brought to share.
After we helped bring back tables and chairs to the church hall the guys decided to head to the golf course and play nine holes. It had been a while since they played but Scott said the boys did very well. As you can see, they look like they had an enjoyable afternoon. I had a nice, quiet afternoon myself at home. I was able to sit back and do one of my favorite things.... read!

Check back soon~ Scott pins on Major tomorrow and hopefully we can get some good photos posted for everyone to see!

A week in Our Life!

We had a great time exploring Haputo Beach with some of our friends. It only took us 21 months to finally discover this wonderfully-secluded location. The boys had a awesome time on a practically deserted beach. We truly felt like we were on an episode of “Survivor”.

Jean and the boys decorating eggs and loving it! Drew had a fun time hunting for eggs at the base Easter egg hunt, but in the end he ended up with only a few in his basket, better technique next year. We all finished off our Saturday by watching the BEE Movie outside at Arc Light Park, we had a great time! Drew then wrote a note to the bunny requesting that the house be tied up in yarn again this year and boy was it.

We all had an "eggcellent" brunch at the Top of the Rock Club after mass on Easter. Jean and Natalee were happy to not have dishes waiting for them at home I am sure. Drew and Nate faired pretty well at the church egg hunt and brought home quite a bit of candy. The day was beautiful as are most days on Guam. Happy Easter to everyone.

More Good News...pray it continues!

We received even better news this past week regarding our baby. Our agency notified us that the China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) has approved our care plan and moved our application further along in the process. We've met with our social worker who is currently writing our home study addendum. The baby is currently 14 1/2 months old and is living with foster family. We hope to be traveling to get her sometime this summer, hopefully before the Olympics kick off in Beijing. March 21st marks our 1 year anniversary of our start of the adoption paper chase. It really is hard to believe it has really been a year already. We are all excited and can't wait to get the referral for her, which will mean pictures that we can post. Please continue to pray for the babies health and that the Lord will remove barriers and provide financially for this adoption.
We miss you all from the beautiful island of Guam!

Great News from our Agency!!!

Well first of all, we are sorry that we have not posted in such a long time! We have been busy living life and trying to keep up with the boys, work, and fitting in as much fun as we can.

We received GREAT news this morning from our adoption agency! Our agency has pre-approved us to adopt a special needs child that we chose to adopt. We should be receiving pre-approval from China within the week. We look to go to Beijing within 4-8 months. Our daughter is currently 14 months old and has a few medical problems, please pray for her. We can not give out too many details at this time, but will as soon as we can.

Nate and Drew are so excited they have decided to use all of their lawn mowing money to put towards the trip to China. We will all four be traveling to pick up our daughter and just can't wait. Thanks for all of the encouragement and prayer from everyone. We will update you all as soon as we have more information.
