Disney ....on......Ice!

Scott, Lily, and I spent Saturday, February 13th at the Disney on Ice show downtown. Lily is just getting into some of the Disney characters and we thought she might enjoy the show. Lily is excited anytime we say we are going on the train (metro) and she was very willing to get up early to get going. We met quite a few other girls on the train heading the same direction we were.

So much to see and buy ~ it's overwhelming. Lily does state, quite frequently anymore, that she wants any little toy that looks fun. We did indulge her in some popcorn and she was happy.

Excitement before the show.

Lily loved Mickey and all the princesses. She waved freely but was disappointed that she couldn't get onto the ice to say hello.

The show was quite long, for a little one. Lily was starting to get tired about half-way through but there was enough action to keep her entertained.

We even saw the Chinese dragon from Mulan. What a great reminder of Chinese New Year!

After the show, we took the train to Scott's work stop and had lunch at a Japanese restaurant. Lily loved the miso soup until she spilled the whole bowl on herself. The tempura shrimp was a better option for her. Delicious!

Can you guess what Lily has been doing all around the house since the show? She has been "ice-skating" all around, complete with one leg in the air, arms flowing gracefully, and lots of spinning. So cute. Maybe we'll watch Lily in the 2025 winter olympics!

Pinewood Derby Time!

January 30th was the Pinewood Derby Race Day at St. Andrew's The Apostle, Pack 717. Drew decided to model his car after a block of cheese; complete with holes and painted a bright yellow. The race began a few minutes late with the Tiger Cubs going first. Drew waited in anticipation for the Wolves and Bears to finish their races. Finally the Webelos were called to the track.

Drew, waiting patiently as many of the boys raced ahead of him.

The race is on and Drew is smiling....

The race is over. Drew is looking pretty happy.

Drew receiving his Webelos 3rd place ribbon and the "Most Humorous Design" award from the Pack Leader. Way to Go Drew!!!

It's Official!

About a week after the Pack 717 Derby Race Drew received an email stating that he had qualified to race in the District Pinewood Derby Race. The District Race was held this past weekend, February 20th, at St. Tim's in Chantilly.

Drew is holding his medal for participation in the District Race. Can you tell he isn't quite awake yet?

The competition looked fierce. Drew's car was racing with the other Webelos II's first thing in the morning. After a few adjustments with the weight of the CHEESE it was time to race.

Drew didn't come away with any additional ribbons or trophies at District but he had a great time and that's what it's all about!

It's Elmo!!!

Lily debated whether to have a Dora cake or an Elmo cake. I didn't think I could pull off a Dora cake of my own making and my friend Valorie is not here to make a picture perfect cake so......I persuaded Lily to accept an Elmo cake. Scott and I did NOT realize just how much red food coloring it takes to make RED frosting. Lily seemed pleased with the end result. Thank Goodness!

We had a little party the day after Lily's birthday. Friends of ours from Guam who now live in the DC area were able to help us celebrate Lily's 3rd birthday.

Lily was so excited to hear the "Happy Birthday" song.

Time to blow out three candles....

Lily chose to wear a traditional Chinese dress for her party. She loves to pose!

"I look tired but I really am excited about my presents. Thank you for my book Aunt Amy, Uncle Mark, Owen and Will!"

Lily with penguin mittens and muff from Gram. Little did we know that Lily would need to wear these so much this winter!

Thank you to everyone who sent Lily a birthday gift. She is so thankful for everything!

Snow Angels on Lily's Birthday

Our sweet Lilymei celebrated her 3rd birthday on January 8th. What a fun day! Lily woke up excited to see snow falling on her special day. The boys were hoping I would let them have the day off from school. Wasn't it enough to have their own birthday off from school?

All day Lily begged to go outside and play in the snow. When Daddy arrived home from work Lily hurried to put on her cold weather gear. Drew gladly went outside with Lily and Scott to help Lily play in the white powder.

Our little angel had been practicing on the family room rug and what a good job she did making that snow angel. Her wings are in motion...

Scott was able to capture Lily on camera before her snow angel making session. Listen below...

Check back later for pictures of Lily's birthday cake!
